VIPro Portamento Speed

Hello,

I heard in one Video that VIPro allows to speed up the portamento - the time of the transition.

Is that true for legato patches also?

Is there a video that shows how it works and that contains examples to listen to?

And how can I clarify whether my XP version runs with 32 bit?

Hi Sebastian,

check out the video "Polyphonic Legato", the second half shows you how to manipulate the sample start offset, also for legatos [:)]

Currently, VI PRO build 1.0.6776 and VE PRO 4.1.6776 runs on XP (it´s in the "Archive" section in the User Area), the newer versions (build 6844) have introduced some kind of bug with XP, which is already fixed for the next update, soon to come!

I still need some clarity.

Does the manipulation of the sample start offset in effect mean, that I am able to shorten/speed up the original transition-time in legato and portamento patches - or: does it mean, that I am able to lenghten/ slow down the original transition-time and that the shortes transition-time possible equals the original transition-time?

HI Sebastian,

you can shorten / speed up the transition with this trick. Simply give it a try with extreme settings and portamento, it´s pretty obvious.

Up to now I either don't know how to download the demo version or it is not possible yet to download the demo.

So, would you mind writing something like:

"Yes, I say it out loud for those who have difficulties to believe: You will be able to shorten even the original transition time[8-|]."

I'm still confused about this feature, which is called "start offset" and "start offset attack." If I play two notes with a legato or portamento patch, are there three samples working in the background? The first note, the transition sample, and the second note?

If I change the start offset setting from 0ms to 50ms, what changes? Does the transition sample start later? End later? Is it shrunk to be 50ms shorter?

If I change the "start offset attack" setting from 0ms to 50ms, what changes? The video seems to say that there is a "fade in" of the transition sample? If the transition sample is being faded in, is the first note sample also changed to fade out so that overall volume does not dip during the fade?
