HI,
I'm a VE PRO and PT LE user under win 7.
I use a Slave pc to handle all VI, mainly East West Play but I find RTAS version of VE PRO to be almost unusable:
the cpu load of the slave machine it's too high, also with only one instruments palying 4-5 notes.
For example:
EAST WEST PLAY 64bit ver 2.0.21
ON VEPRO server 64bit 4.0.6150
ON SLAVE PC (WIN 7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT) MB ASUS P6T-SE CPU I7 930 RAM 9GB 1600 MHz
TO
PTLE 8.0.4 (RTAS VEPRO)
ON MASTER PC (WIN 7 ULTIMATE 64BIT) MB ASUS RAMPAGE II EXTREME CPU I7 920 RAM 6GB 1600 MHz
BOTH PC HAVE GIGABIT ETHERNET CONNECTION
The load on slave PC it's absurd 10-15% of cpu load every single sustained note I play (unusable)
but with same setup using Reaper 3.66 64 bit or 32 bit (VST VEPRO) I have 0% to 1% every single sustained note I play.
Is this behavior normal ???
Is VST VEPRO so much better than RTAS VEPRO ??? (UNDER WINDOWS)

Here I am, first of all thank you for the support.... Did some more tests, here the results using 28 voices on EastWest Play:------> RTAS VEPRO VS VST VEPRO - BUFFER=64 CPU(RTAS\VST) 28%\10% - BUFFER=128 CPU(RTAS\VST) 17%\8% - BUFFER=256 CPU(RTAS\VST) 11%\6% - BUFFER 512 CPU(RTAS\VST) 8%\5% - BUFFER 1024 CPU(RTAS\VST) 5%\4% --------- VEPRO ALWAYS 2 BUFFER ------ MASTER PC WIN 7 Ultimate 64bit PTLE 8.0.4 32bit - Reaper 3.66 32bit (WITH ASIO4ALL V2.1) Hardware i7 920 Asus Extreme II Rampage 6GB RAM 1600MHz - PC SLAVE WIN 7 Home Premium 64bit - VEPro 64bit 4.0.6150 with East West Play 64bit 2.0.21 Hardware i7 930 Asus P6T SE 9GB RAM 1600 MHz (sorry for the text formattation, for some reason "ENTER indentation" doesn't produce any result when message is posted)

Under Reaper the biggest buffer I can test is 1024 (asio4all doesn't offer more) under Protools LE the biggest buffer I can test is 2048 and offer the same performances as 1024. and Yes VE Pro is always setted to 2 buffer. ------- IMHO East West Play isn't state of the art software :-), so I believe overall poor performances come from this unoptimized code ----- The strange thing is perfomance difference between RTAS and VST (I believe also RTAS it's a little outdated standard), keep in mind I'm working at 44.100 KHz..... Do you have some suggestion on how to "speed up" my VE Pro via RTAS? ------- Thank you
