    hey guys, Win7-64b PT 8.0.4 trying to get rolliing with VEP; VEP can't find my hardware.. It's saying it's already in use. (in my case, digidesign ASIO). Any thoughts? can you save me a few hours of non-productive time? thanks in advance nathan nockels ATL

    Are you trying to run VEP as a standalone? If so, why?

    I'm wanting to run VEP with protools. that's my intention. In PT I'll instantiate the RTAS plugin fine. then VEP tells me to configure midi/audio devices... then, VEP is saying it can't find hardware or it is being used by another application. what do you think?

    Are you starting the VEP server before PT? AFAIK you would normally only get this audio message if you were trying to run a standalone at the same time as PT, with hardware drivers that are not multi-client. The VEP plugin doesn't use audio drivers, so the error message is probably coming from a standalone that you have launched by accident. The only audio related things that you can configure is the number of threads and the number of audio outputs.

    you're right. that's exactly what I was doing; I thought I was running the server.. I was actually trying to run the standalone. thanks so much for your help! nathan

     No problem. I always put a shortcut to the server, and not the standalone, on the desktop so that I don't make this mistake. [;)]
