    I'm switching to Cubase 5.5 after using Sonar/Cakewalk for a couple decades, so I at least get the general concepts. (Still a lot of particulars to learn!) I'm currently stumped on how to play an instrument under VE Pro when VE Pro has the focus. It works fine when Cubase has the focus.

    Make sure that "release ASIO driver when in background" isn't checked (Devices menu, I think).
