  • Vienna Instruments, Sibelius & Reason

    Hi,

I have a setup with VI for all acoustic instruments, and Reason for the drums in Sibelius.

It all plays back just fine exept VI lags. It plays back slower than the drums. Does anyone here knows any possible solution to tackle this?

    Best, Arnold

  • Hello Arnold!

I don't have Reason, but i couldn't verify this behaviour with Sibelius, Vienna Ensemble and other third party VSTinstruments.

Can you please describe the problem in more detail?
Which OS are you working on?
Which Sibelius version are you using?
Which Vienna Ensemble version are you using?
How are you triggering Reason and Vienna Ensemble?
    Are you using Rewire?

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hey Andi!

q Which OS are you working on?
    a OS 10.6.4

q Which Sibelius version are you usinga ?
    a 6.2.0 build 88

q Which Vienna Ensemble version are you using?
    a v2.0 build 4017

q How are you triggering Reason and Vienna Ensemble?
a VE via the playback devices list and Reason via IAC (and then in the playback devices too)

    q Are you using Rewire?
    a Probably not.

The drum sound (which comes from Reason) is ahead of everything else. I have temporarily fixed the problem by put a delay of 98 miliseconds on the drums, but it is not really an elegant solution.

    Thanks again for your efforts,

    Arnold

  • Hello Arnold!

If it's possible, I would recommend using Reason as an AUinstrument. Then VE and Reason should be in sync. If that's not possible, I would set the Buffer slider in the Vienna Ensemble Server Interface to x0. That should also help, but Vienna Ensemble will need more performance then.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Hey Andi,

I did try to look up if it's possible to use Reason as an AU instrument, but I can't find any documentation on that.

  • Hi Andi,

I found a solution. I rewire everything within reason! Annoyingly simple... [;)]

    Thanks anyway!!!
