  • Connecting 3 computers

    Hi...

Three computers, one mixer... how do I connect them so I can hear what all of them are playing and record all the sound in cubase...

in other words I cant just connect them all to the mixer.. I have to have the sound go through the master computer...

    please help

  • The method I can think of will generate feedback... but friend of mine told me I could press something on the mixer to prevent that?

  • CM,

Connect the sound source computers to the tracks on the mixer (no idea if you have multi channel break out cards or if you are using a patch bay). Connect the 3rd Computer as you would a standard tape recorder (this I assume is how you want to use it). [the layout should be in the mixer manual - if you have it]

On the Tape side of the mixer (again this will depend on the type and the model) you you have Switches that allow you to switch between source and monitor - mostly labled "MON".

This switch will allow you to toggle between the Source (ie the two sound source computers) when recording to (Cubase) and Mon when listening back.

This is quick and dirty - post back with question if you need to refine this.

  • Hi...

Problem is that I need sound from the 3rd sqencer computer aswell.. i'm planning on having my Virtual Instruments there...

This is what I have done so far: connected two giga computers to the mixer.. send that signal to my sequencer and VI coputer.. and then send the combined signal into my monitors...

problem is I get a 1-1.5 sec delay from the giga computers to the sequencer

  • Have you tried FX teleport? You can run VSTi's remotely and soon even the Giga VST adapter will be remote.

  • You shouldn't be getting a second and a half delay. Something is weird.

What cards do you have on what machines, and what mixer are you using?
