  • Using VSL with Sibelius 6.2

I am looking into using VSL with Sibelius 6.2.  Vienna Instruments makes 48 different packages of instrument combinations.  Sibelius 6.2 includes a soundset to run Vienna Instruments.  Specifically, which of the following VSL packages will run from inside Sibelius 6.2, using the soundset included with Sibelius 6?

    VSL Vienna Ensemble PRO
    VSL Special Edition
    VSL Special Edition PLUS Extended
    VSL Special Edition Bundle
    VSL Special Edition Bundle Extended
    VSL Solo Strings 1
    VSL Solo Strings 2
    VSL Solo Strings Extended
    VSL Vienna Strings Package
    VSL Chamber Strings 1
    VSL Chamber Strings 2
    VSL Chamber Strings 2 Extended
    VSL Appassionata Strings 1
    VSL Appassionata Strings 2
    VSL Appassionata Strings 2
    VSL Appassionata Strings 2 Extended
    VSL Orchestral Strings 1
    VSL Orchestral Strings 2
    VSL Orchestral Strings 2 Extended
    VSL Choir
    VSL Vienna Suite
    VSL Vienna Imperial
    VSL Percussion
    VSL Percussion Extended
    VSL Super Package
    VSL Super Package
    VSL Elements
    VSL Elements Extended
    VSL Brass 1
    VSL Brass 2
    VSL Special Brass
    VSL Special Brass Extended
    VSL Woodwinds 1
    VSL Woodwinds 2
    VSL Woodwinds 1 Extended
    VSL Woodwinds 2 Extended
    VSL Kozerthaus Organ
    VSL Saxophones
    VSL Special Keyboards
    VSL Special Woodwinds
    VSL Special Woodwinds Extended
    VSL Vienna Winds Package
    VSL Harps
    VSL Harps Extended
    VSL Keyboards Package
    VSL Strings Package Extended
    VSL Symphonic Cube
    VSL Symphonic Cube Extended

If any of the above VSL packages will NOT run from inside Sibelius 6.2 using this soundset, are third-party soundsets available to run these packages inside Sibelius 6.2?

Will VSL run in Sibelius 6.2 using Windows 7 64-bit with the M-Audio Delta Soundcard (Windows 7 64-bit driver.)?

Will the reverb select function built into Sibelius' Play>Performance menu control the reverb produced in Playback and Export, using VSL as the sound output device?

  •  Hi starmark,

    I copied this from my optimizing sibelius playback file from my user area...hope this helps;

it might be possible to have more in the near future, "master Andi " should enter the scene!

I know from my settings that sibelius 6.2 ru n on win 7 64 bit ..but I dont have any idea about M-audio delta soundcard ...

I use the vienna suite ...i never tried the reverb function from sibelius....but if I m not mistaken in the tutorial for sibelius it is used the reverb function built...

    All the best

  • Hello Mark!

All our sound sets work for standard and extended versions. The sound sets included with Sibelius are for the Special Edition and the Special Edition PLUS. As Bogdan has written, there are more sound sets available from our homepage after registering our products. Just take a look at the list he posted.
Some collections like the Konzerthaus organ or the Vienna Imperial don't need special sound sets.

Yes, all of our software is Windows 7 64-bit compatible. I haven't heard of any problems with the M-Audio Delta yet.

As far as I know the Sibelius internal reverb does not work with our software, but you can use reverb plugins like the Convolution reverb from our Vienna Suite. You can get a free demo version here:
    http://vsl.co.at/en/211/497/1686/454/1673/115.htm

You will need a Vienna Key (or an eLicenser dongle from Steinberg) to use it.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  •  Starmark asks about "third-party soundsets available to run these packages inside Sibelius 6.2".

It would be interesting finding Sibelius soundsets that use really all the articulations available!

  • Hi Sergino!

We already made such a sound set and the VI presets for internal use. If you want it, you can have it. Just tell me. Most articulation changes work as described in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual. Please notice that there is no documentation for this "VSL full" sound set and in order to fully use its capabilities you will have to study the sound set with the Sibelius Sound Set Editor.

Use it with the Vienna Symphonic Library House Style.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hello Sergino!

I have sent you an email.

  • Hello, been reading this thread with much interest. Could you please send me as well this full soundset, Andi? Would very much like to try it.

    raoul.merkouris@gmail.com

    Thanks a lot!

  • I‘d be interested too! Cheers!

  • Bump.

  • Perhaps it should be put into the 'Needful Things' folder to be accessed by everyone interested?

  •  I think that Andi don't want a lot of people asking how to use it,

as there is no documentation for this "VSL full" sound set

and in order to fully use its capabilities you will have to study the sound set with the Sibelius Sound Set Editor. [8-|]
