  • VI 64 Bit on Mac problems SOLVED

I am hoping someone on the forum can assist. I am trying to use VI (Software 2.1 (Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, 32+64 bit, UB) build 5740) but can't seem to get it running in 64 bit mode. It only runs in 32 bit bridge. I am using a MAc 2.93 dual quad core (20G Ram), running snow leopard 10.6.4. DAW is Logic Studio 9 (fully updated 9.1.1). Elicencer control center instal 6.0.2.703 with GUI 2.0.1.8 (most recent version). I have downloaded and installed the most recent VI from VSL website. When I start Logic in 64 bit mode I get a dialog box "An error has occured with an installed Audio Unit plug-in. Logic Pro unexpectedly quit Audio Unit "Vienna Instruments" by "VSL". This plug in may require an update." When I click OK on the dialog box, Logic finishes opening. However, VI only appears as a 32 bit US instrument. It works properly in 32 bit mode. I would like to run in 64 bit (all my other software is running 64 bit, so I can take advantage of the Mac's multicore. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks Steven

  • For those interested, Ilio in the US was very helpful. THey suggested looking at a number of items, including 1. checking to see if the component VI had been installed in library/audio/plugin/components. It was. 2. checking VI component get info, make sure it is the actual update (if not reinstall it). It was. 3. Checking directory manager - should only have 100 special edition, remove other stuff, and drag 100 special edition directly into directly manager. It was correct 4. check in Logic in preferences audio units manager, that VI is in there and validated, and that the version it sees is 2.1 - reset and rescan selections. This was the problem. For some reason it was showing as validation crashed. I re-validated, closed Logic and restarted logic. Works just fine 5. if not, go to components folder, take the VI component out, restart logic, shut it down, and put Vi back in to component and restart. Many thanks to Daniel at Ilio for such clear advice. He clearly knows his stuff. Well done! Steven
