    Never mind the below... it's simply because I'm used to only using the 64-bit VEP Server and of course Play is only 32-bit on Mac. Silly me. [:$]

    My host is Windows XP 32 bit, Sonar 8.5. Slave is Mac Pro with 10.6.3. I have the latest VE Pro on both machines and have been working very happily, just using Vienna Instruments and Omnisphere on the slave. I've just installed the new Play update. Play shows up as an available unit if I launch VE Pro standalone, but not in VE Pro server as a slave. I notice the same is happening with MakeMusic's SmartMusicSoftSynth from Finale, which I've never looked at using anyway. 

    So... any hints why VSTs would show up in VEP standalone but not VEP Server?
