  • I can't get VE Pro 4 to run

    Hello:

I installed the latest update v6150.  When I started VE Pro the server window opened and said "loading" and it started to open one VSL window which also said "loading".  That's as far as it went.  No activity in Windows Task Manager.  So I uninstalled v6150 and tried reinstalling v5814 with the same results.  I even tried two versions I had archived, v5436 and v4686; the first crashed after opening a bunch of empty VSL windows, the second did the same things the current version did.

Please help me, I'm dead in the water here.

    John

  • Could you give detailed information about your system and setup? Also, could you give more detailed steps to reproduce this behavior?

  • I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.  My sequencer is Sibelius.  After installing one of the versions listed in my previous post I try to launch the 64-bit VE Pro Server by itself; that works just fine and the server window appears.  After that I try to open a metaframe.  A window for the first viframe64 file in the metaframe appears.  Both windows say "Loading data, please wait".   And that's as far as it goes.  There's no activity in Windows Task Manager for either "Vienna Ensemble Pro x64.exe" or "vlsdaemon.exe *32".  I have to end task to close the two dead windows.

After all my versions of VE Pro failed to run I tried doing a "manual uninstall".  I uninstalled VE Pro from the Windows "Programs and Features" window, uninstalled Visual C++ then searched through the registry to "vienna" and "vsl", hoping that a clean install would run.  Unfortunately this did not help.

  • Could you send this metaframe to  with a description of the problem? Thanks.

  • I sent two metaframes as requested.

After doing so I did some more testing and discovered that I could get VE Pro 4 to run normally by deleting Vienna Instruments.dll and Vienna Instruments x64.dll from my VSTPlugins folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Sibelius Software\VSTPlugins).

So I guess you can close this thread, unless you'd like me to do some testing for you with the two DLLs mentioned above.

    Thanks,
    John
