  • yeah, I stupidly bought one when I first got a PC. There's no way...

You need to have ASIO, and I don't mean 'ASIO-for-all'. I'd steer clear of M-Audio; RME is a vendor nobody much has complaints about.

  • Heh, I'm using an integrated soundcard by Realtek and I'm getting 2 ms latency in Vienna Imperial, without any glitches. I used to play Synthogy Ivory with less than 1 ms latency. Soundcard isn't the biggest reason for bad latencies these days. It might be, if your computer is old.

  •  I don't get it.  You buy an almost $1k piano sample library to play it through a cheap consumer audio card?    [:D]

  • Why wouldn't I? I can get 24-bit audio and very low latencies, so I don't see any reason to upgrade. Integrated soundcards aren't that bad anymore, if you don't need to record audio.

  • That's cool.  Whatever works.  I just think you are not getting the full fidelity of the piano with a cheap D/A converter.

  • Yep, probably not. But the results I'm getting certainly aren't bad. I was surprised how good this soundcard is, when I recently upgraded my computer. Certainly beats my old M-audio. I'm probably buying a new soundcard eventually, especially if I start to make ambient again (lots of sample recording). Right now I have no need for it.
