  • Where can I find Universal Mode ?

Hi, I've installed DL Strings Special Edition a few days ago, it's better than I expected, I think it's marvellous ! But I'm a real newbie, and I wonder where I can find the Matrix 'Universal Mode' I saw in Paul Steinbauer video '05_UniversalMode2.mpg'. Is it available for Download Editions? All the best, Edmond

  • Universal mode is not available for all products, and I don't know whether or not yours is one of those. However, the best thing to do, IMO, is to make your own matrices.

  • Hi edz,

to be more precise, the Universal Mode is only available in the Extended Libraries of the "big" VI Collections, as it makes use of advanced patches like the Fast Legatos, which are not contained in the Special Edition.

As DG says, it´s "just" another matrix (a rather powerful one), and you´re best off to create your own matrices from the articulations available in the Special Edition Strings.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul and DG, Thanks for your answer, I suspected something like that as there are no perf-xxx patches in Special Edition. After a long hesitation I chose DLoad SE Strings vs Solo String 1 for their Orchestral Ensembles, but I know now what is my next purchase ;-) All the best, Edmond

  • Can you be specific as to which "BIg VI" collections you are referring to please?

    Hi,

I´m referring to our DVD Collections. There are a few exceptions, where a Universal Mode doesn´t make sense, like Percussion, Pianos, Elements....

In any case, although the Universal Mode is a great matrix, most people expect way too much from it, just because of the nice name [;)]

After all it´s "just" a speed controlled matrix that let´s you switch between the most important legato articulations of an instrument. There is MUCH more available in the background, and it´s very easy to use.

    Best,

    Paul
