hi everyone, i have finale 2010, and some VSL violin files (.gig format) i have no idea how to tell finale to use the gig violin file as the playback instrument, can someone help me out here?

Our current products (since 2006) don't come as .gig (Gigasampler) files but work with our Vienna Instruments player. The production of the Gigasampler software has been stopped some years ago.
I don't see any registered products (nor a full name) in your records. Under which name did you register your product?

they files were a gift from a friend, he said he had bought them years ago and gave them to me on a flash drive, so i dont have access to the player, i only have the .gig files and finale so i guess im stuck

he did also give me a program called "VSL performance tools v 2.1.1" not sure how to use it though

Sorry to say that your friend didn't have the right to give you the samples and the Performance Tool. The license can't be given to other persons. You are not entitled to use the samples unless you register a product for yourself.
If you are interested in using our instruments with Finale, I recommend checking out the Special Edition. With the help of the Finale Human Playback Preferences we prepared for the Special Edition articulation changes will work automatically.
