  • Using SSD for VSL Library - Load times?

    Hi

Just wondering how much load times of a MIR template could be reduced by using the fastest SSD available for the instrument library?

    Anybody have a guess?

Placing the whole of VSL on SSD is offcause insanely expensive - but maybe a subset...

  • Is it all a good thing to use SSD for VSL libraries ?

Patrick at XI-Machines consulted someone at VSL - CM?, who mentioned a problem about a latency spikes problem with SSD.

Is this a general problem or just for the older models - and what is the cause?

  • hello

    read this :

  • I now only use SSD and have no problems at all.

Loading times are a bit faster than my previous hd raid.

  •  thx guys

Kambiz: Do you have any idea how much faster the loading of a big template is compaired to HD ?

I am trying to decide if I should go for a sleep-mode option ( samples stay in memory overnight at a low power consumption ) or do reload every time ( drinking coffee for 25 min ).

  • 25min? [8-|]

my system starts in about 30 seconds (win7 64, i7 980x, ssd). mostly because of the bios.

MIR and almost 12GB of VSL Samples take about one minute loading and starting

but i must say that i did a lot of PC tweaking

  • I don't how much time to expect - some reports in the forums talks about 20+ min for loading big templates.

It does take some several minutes on my own current 32-bit system, just to load 2 Gb

But if you can load 12Gb in 1 min - I should have no fears, and need not be concerned with using the sleep-mode.

    thx

  • maybe it is not only the ssd/hd. cpu and motherboard and also the OS are important too i guess

if you need any help on your pc just pm me

  • thx a lot - will do if it comes up :-)

XI-Machines are going to build me the new one from my specifications - I'm just trying to figure out if I should invest heavily in SSD's instead of HD's
