  • Swedish song with VSL SE strings

Hello everyone! This is a production I did this spring and it includes a mockup string orchestra from VSL SE. All comments and critizism are highly appriciated! Since this production allready is done it's too late to change stuff, but I thought I'd post it here anyway so I can learn some tricks to next time. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.box.net/shared/5yi4djxhd8 Strings join in from 1.27-> I've mainly used The legato sections, some portamento on the violins and Pizz Double Bass section plus an occational tremolo on all strings. Song is called "Minnet och tystnaden" written by swedish late singer Evert Taube. This track closes the album "Saknad". Artist/singer is Anna-Lotta Larsson. Piano is Synthogy Ivory - German D and played by me. It is mixed at Atlantis studios by Janne Hansson and mastered by Claes Persson.

  • Snyggt! Bra gjort! Just a couple of ideas; in order to make the string sound less uniform, which they tend to do in VST string libraries, I double each track with a solo instrument. Since you use the VSL SE (Plus maybe)try adding a solo violin, viola and cello to each track and blend it to your liking. See how you like it. The VSL solo instruments have a very defined vibrato that I find usable as a color. Another little trick is to assign the tuning knob to the pitch wheel and play around with the pitch abit, like VSL has done with the appassionata strings. Let one violin play slightly out of tune here and there to give a sence of realism. My only complaint with VSL Strings is that they tend to sound to uniform an Synth like. You have to rough them up abit. Cheers! Lycka till!

  • Great tips, I'll definitly try that out! Thanks!

  • Fin lÃ¥t. Och väldigt bra pianospel.

    cheers from fridhemsplan
