• MIR 1.1 1719 demo

    Hello

    I have 4 questions

The software take 3 min to open, it's normal?

I have only 1 Venue in demo : "default", it's normal?

When i take with the mouse an instrument and move it to an other place, it return after to this first place when i release the button of the mouse, Why?

I only can choose 44,1Khz on the sample rate audio setting, it's normal?

    Regards

    Arnaud

    Under Win7 Integral

    Quad 3ghz

    RME 96/32, 44.1 to 96 Khz

  • Welcome Arnaud,

thanks for your interest in Vienna MIR.

Depending on the number of Vienna instruments enabled on your system and eLicenser, three minutes sound reasonable for me. Keep in mind that MIR is a full-blown VSTi-host, so it has to take care for your VIs, too. ;-)

Re: Venues - Please make sure that you download and install the Demo RoomPack, too. This will include one microphone position (but of course all IRs from the stage) recorded in the Mozart Saal of the Vienna Konzerthaus. - The actual RoomPack 1 that comes with the retail-version offers a total of five venues, recorded from four main microphone distances each, which actually gives you 20 individual venues.

The "Default" is just one stage position of the Grand Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus, and these are the only IRs that come with the MIR-engine itself (just to make sure that one can check the functionality of the system without having to load a complete Venue, which again may take up to a minute, depending on the number and length of the included IRs).

    Kind regards,

In fact, i added 3 questions after :

Internally, MIR works in 32bit floating point, The output format depends on the possibilies of your audio hardware (24 bit in case of the RME you mentioned above.

BTW - the MIR manual is available as a free download. Most - if not all - of your questions are answered there extensively.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks

My question is about the minimum memory.

I have read the requirement with a minimum memory of 12Gb

I have now only 3gb and want pass to 8gb (my cpu is quad 3ghz, OK)

The MIR pack1 don't load, it's normal but i can work with "default" for demo.

My motherboard accept 8bg only and have only small work to do.

Do you think with 8go, i can use the MIR Pack2 (with only 3 or 4 instruments by exemple) and work on small projects?

    PS

For your information : I use jBridger 1.14 with MIR and all works fine (vst 32 ->vst64)

  • Arnaud,

Please make sure that you didn't download the retail-version of RoomPack 1 by accident. There is a dedicated, small Trial-RoomPack on the download page of this site.

3 GB are simply not enough for _any_ meaningful work with Vienna MIR. Using the (actually empty) default page for testing is about as funny as looking at the key of an Aston Martin and thinking about how cool it might be to drive it. 8-) You miss all but one or two of the unique features of MIR - all you can do is rotate your instrument on a single spot of the stage, and try different main microphone setups. That's about it.

8 GB might be enough for a handful of instruments, depending on the Venue you intend to work in, but we definitely DON'T recommend it. - For example, the upcoming RoomPack of the Steinhofkirche (... a bit like the Taj Mahal) will need 4 GB alone, in addition to Windows and the MIR-engine itself --- without any instruments loaded.

... and yes, jBridge seems to work nicely within MIR on most occasions :-)

    Kind regards,

  • PS ... I 've just seen that the Trial RoomPack seems to have vanished from the download page. :-/ ... please be patient, I'm already investigating where it is.

  • PPS: The Trial-Roompack is here:

    -> http://vsl.co.at/en/68/428/709/950/582.htm

... the last in the list of the Standard RoomPack.
