  • NOTION 3 DEMO with VI inst cracks click and pops and no sound

    Hello

I have import "From the new world " of Anton Dvorak into Notion

I have set the 27 instrument to use VI

It is playing ok in the calm parts, but as soon the score get's a little bit complicated the sound is horrible.

In some of the very complicated part NO SOUND COMES OUT

Stopping Notion, I get a massive sound that does stop

    Note are Hanging !

I did not find a way to reset !

I did not put any plug-ins (I even remove the default reverb)

I have set the Audio buffer to 1024 (at 224 all the score was sounding horrible even on calm parts)

VSL server is using around 250 %

    Notion 51 %

I will do more test using VE-Pro during this week

  • Hi Cyril,

You would most likely want to use Custom VE presets and set up the orchestra with VE or VE PRO, rather than VI in case of large scores like the symphony of a new world. There is an excellent tutorial on how to set a custom VE instance on the VSL SLE page on www.notionmusic.com.

Given that your system has good resources it should have no problem playing the score.

  • Hi Lubo

I have tried to phone you, because I cannot manage to make it work with VE PRO Server

With the score I am using it' take ages to set the track

I have set my imported midi track to basic tracks (why dont you ask when you import what plug-ins you want to use it will be so much simple )

Then I have selected the VE pro track and "connect it to the above track"

I get nothing in the VSL ensemble

The demo is expiring tomorrow can you extend it for another 2 weeks

You should look In Logic how they do the import, it is so simple !

Do you have the .mframe and the .viframe files for the whole orchestra in 4 VE pro ?

  • Cyril,

The custom VE PRO instances in SLE are empty. This is because we let you load only the presets you need and add to them as-you-go so to speak for either an imported score, or more likely - a fresh new score you are starting on. You need to add the corresponding .fxp to the right channel. If you already have SLE, then you have those .fxp's in your VSL Custom Data folder already, if not - get them from the Support-Downloads page at www.notionmusic.com .

You can also use the pre-loaded sections templates, which will load the full orchestra into memory, but you wont have to deal with locating the .fxp, if thats easier for you. Here are step by step instructions, I hope these will help:

    1. Start VSL VE PRO server

    2. Start NOTION

    3. Import your MIDI file

    4. Convert it to notation

    5. Add a VE PRO instance from the VSL Special Edition  - Section Presets palette (Winds, Strings, Brass or Percussion) for example - Chamber Strings (VE PRO)

    6. Click on the newly added VE PRO section staff and hit CTRL+I to bring up the interface. Connect it to the server and wait for the patches to load

    7. After the preset loads, make sure your cursor is on the VE PRO staff and hit Shift+I.

    8. In the Instrument Change dialog that pops up, choose a MIDI channel corresponding to the instrument you want to assign to a staff from your imported score (e.g. Ch.3 is Violas in the VE PRO instance, so choose that to assign Violas to a staff from the imported score)

9.With the instrument change armed in your cursor click the very first bar of the staff you want this applied to.

    10. Repeat steps 6-10 for all instruments you want to assign from this section then add a new VE PRO Section preset for the next section and do the same untill you have all assigned

I hope this will help, once again, I would watch the video tutorials available on the NOTION SLE page to help along the way too. Although in English, they still offer enough visual information to get you going.

    I hope this helps!

  • Hi lubo

can you extend my Notion demo, as it has expired

    thanks

    Cyril

  • Hi Cyril,

We don't usually extend demos, but I was left with the impression that you were a NOTION SLE customer, are you not? If that is the case, SLE has every feature as N3, but for the bundled library and support for additional VSTi's so the demo won't be necessary, you can do everything I outlined above with SLE.

    Thanks,

    Lubo Astinov

  • Hi Lubo

I am a Logic user since the beginning.

I am very interested by Notion SLE, but I have not bought it yet.

Before I buy it I must be able to play my test piece ( it is playing fine with Logic IAC and VE PRO )
