  • [SOLVED] How can I run VEPro x64 in Sibelius 6?

It's not coming up in my available devices, despite being in my VST folder.

I'm sure I could run VEPro x64 in Sibelius 5 [:^)]   ...but now I'm not so sure I did!

VE & VI x32 are in the same VST folder and are showing up - but of course I won't be able to access extra RAM with these.

But now I've thought of a new problem - if Sibelius is a 32 bit application, would I be able to access more than 3.5GB of RAM anyway???

Thanks for all help with (another!) basic question! [:)]

    Cheers all!

  • Firstly you can access the extra RAM with VE. VI won't, assuming that you're using windows.

Regarding VE Pro, start the 64bit server and you should be able to connect from Sibelius, provided that all the .dll are in the correct place.

  • Thanks for the reply DG!

    Yes I'm running Windows 7.

I've opened the x64 bit VEPro server, and then started Sibelius and had pointed Sibelius towards the VST folder in the 'Sibelius Software' folder.

I've made sure that the only VST in the folder that is there is VEPro x64

I've then started Sibelius but it still doesn't show up in 'Available Devices'.

When I put VEPro (32bit) into the same folder and then re-start Sibelius, this 32bit version shows up in 'Available Devices'.

    [:^)]

I can see Sibelius on start up checking the VEPro x64 .dll   - so I know it's at least checking it!

  • PS...

do I need to do anything with the VEPro x64 bit server other than to open it up by clicking on it's icon??

i.e do I point it toward the Sibelius VST folder in VEPro 'Preferences' ?  Or do another action??

  • Well I've slept on the problem - but I still have the same problem.

I've read the other thread and have tried the checkign and uncheking the 'advertise server' box without success. I've also re-installed VEPro from my dvd back to version 4686 to see if that would work - alas, VEPro x64 does not show up in my 'Available Devices' in Sibelius.

Here is my current set-up  (I tried not to obscure the lovely picture of Stonhenge, however...)

    [:)]

Is this all fine?? Any help greatly appreciated.

    I'm on Win 7 x64, Sibelius 6.0.1, i7 920, errrm... plenty RAM too.

  • As you can see from above... Vienna Ensemble Pro is coming up in the 'Available Devices', but VEPro x64 is not showing up, depite the .dll file being in the same folder as Vienna Ensemble Pro x32 bit.

I have started the x64 bit server before opening up Sibelius.

Has anyone else had this trouble??

    Thanks for any help!!

    Knievel

  • Hello Knievel!

It seems to me, that everything is working fine. Just start Vienna Ensemble Pro Server 64 bit before Sibelius. In Sibelius activate Vienna Ensemble Pro. It will connect to the 64 bit Server then.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated.

However, it's still not picking up the VEPro x64 .dll file - only the 32bit VEPro .dll

Has anyone else had this problem? Where only the 32bit VEPro is recognised??

    [:(]

  • Well what do you know, for some reason it decided to work!

Thanks for all the help - dunno what I did (or didn't do!)

VSL - this is the first time I've really got stuck into VEPro in my new i7 system and everything seems to be running super sweet with Sibelius. Thank you for the good work once again.

Rightyho! I'm off to play and have fun no that it's all working, I'll try not to bother anyone on the forums for a while!! [:D]
