  • Windows 7 VEPro Slave to Mac midi not working

    Hi,

Does anybody have a system like this that works with VEPro:

    Motherboard: Supermicro MBD-X8DAL-3-0 w

    CPU: 2X 2.26 E5520 Quad core CPU

RAM: 6 X 2  gig Mushkin Enhanced Proline ECC server memory,

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64

I have been using Logic Pro 9.1 on a Mac Book Pro and a Mac Pro as a Master computer with VEPro 64 bit, and the W7 system as the slave computer.

I can login into Windows slave fine using Ultravnc, and do pretty much anything (Restart the computer or any apps, etc).

I can Use Midi Over Lan and Bidule to verify that midi can be recieved on the slave, with internal audio also working fine.

I can play my instance of VEPRo (using the built in keyboard in the instrument editor)  over the lan and hear audio back on my master computer.

I checked to see if there might be a problem with the ethernet on the Slave, no problems

I checked and disabled any power conservation settings.

I cannot seem to get midi from the Master to the Slave using the VEPro server.

When I start playing a sequence in Logic or Bidule (using a sequencer to trigger midi) the first fader on my Slave VEPro computer goes to 0 and will not allow me to change the level until I stop my Master from making midi data.

IIt sounds confusing because it is. ( spent the better part of 12 hours chasing this down, with no success. When I went from Mac to Mac it worked perfectly, so I have to believe that it is an issue with VEPro or the VEPro server app (both 64 bit) on the Slave W7 computer.

Any suggestions as to what to try next, or maybe a solution?

    George

  • Hi George,

Please make sure to have the same version of Vienna Ensemble Pro on all your computers in the network - this should solve the problem!

    Best, Marnix

  • Hi marnix,

Yep, that was it. Of all the things I didn't do (not many) that was one of them. I would suggest VSL put a clear notice at the download area so no one else makes this error.

Thank you so much for your help, it is MUCH appreciated!
