  • Strange keyswitch problem

Hi I have a strange problem using sibelius 6.1 and VE 2.0.

Here is my problem. I just build a new te,plate, where I use several instances of Kontakt for WW, Brass and Rhythm-section, and an instance of vienna Ensemble version 2.0 just for the strings.

I loaded the extended special edition matrixes for the chamberstrings and some solo strings in to VE. Everything is working fine, except that the II. violin is never switching back to sustain. It switches to pizz, stacc, and so on, but never back to sustain (of course i tried arco, normal and everything what is suggested in the manual). I loaded the chamber violins in to two channels and every instrument in the score is corresponding to the channel it should.

When I trigger a solo violin matrix with the second violins, everything is fine.

The first violins are working fine all the time.

I´m pretty shure, that I´m just not seeing the obvious.

    Any ideas?

    Best, Stephan

    Hello Stephan!

I'm not sure if I understood everything about your playback configuration.
How many violins do you have in there? (2 Chamber or 2 Chamber and one Solo)
Which sound set do you use?

Which programs did you assign on the Manual Sound Sets page?

What do you mean with that:

Did you just change the matrix from Chamber Violins to Solo Violin in VE or did you also change settings on the Manual Sound Sets page and the Sibelius instrument.

  • Hello Andi,

thank you for responding and sorry that I didn´t made it clear enough.

Make sure, you are using the Sibelius Solo instruments (like Solo Violin, Solo Viola, ...) for Solo Strings and instruments like Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, ... (without the word "solo") for Ensemble Strings.

Did you just change the matrix from Chamber Violins to Solo Violin in VE or did you also change settings on the Manual Sound Sets page and the Sibelius instrument.

For testing I routed the 2nd Violins to the solo violin matrixes in the VE from the sibelius mixer. This was just a test if the artciculation changes are made on this matrix... and they worked fine.

So the only thing where these problem appears is on one of the chamber violin patches.

    Hope that explained it better,

    Best,

    Stephan

  • Hi Stephan!

Thanks for clearing things up. I would do the following:
Add another "Violin 2" instrument to your score, cut the content of the old "Violin 2" instrument and paste it into the new one. This often helps, when this problem occurs.
