  • Vienna MIR Pro - and Post Production (Movie, Hörspiel)

    Hello to Vienna,

i'm interested on the developers Point of View focussing on Vienna MIR Pro and its LOCATIONS. How do You see MIR Pro today?

Are you focussing only on Rooms for Music-Instruments and Singers or will there also be Outdoor Locations, Tunnels, the inside of an A380 Plain or maybe Versailles? ;-) ...

I see a big potential in MIR to become the most important VSL Product in the Future for everybody - especially for those who plan to Mix in 3D. Look at me: I started with Logic 9, I'm not a Mixing Professional. And I want MIR to become my Main-Mixing-Console for "everything" (not only instruments) in the future. I think there will grow a new generation of musicians who will see things like I do.

    Greetings Lars

  • Hello Lars,

MIR Pro will feature many aspects aimed towards a more "conventional" mixing approach of audio inputs as well as virtual instruments (opposed to the focus on virtual orchestration Vienna MIR offers now). Apart from that we have plans for developments based on the same concept, but exceeding it on several levels. It is too early to discuss these concepts today, though - thanks for your understanding! :-)

    Kind regards,

  • Any idea when MIR pro would come out? Any chance the network transfer might be included in an upcoming patch for MIR ?

    Thx

  • No estimations for MIR Pro's release, sorry to say so. Networking features are planned as MIR Pro exclusive option.

  • This is a very bad news!!!!!!....

Hope you'll know soon enough to tell when the Pro would come out!

  • For purposes of system planning for MIR Pro on its own dedicated system, is an i7 sufficient, or is an 8-core the better way to plan for the PC?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Peter,

  • I don't get it. When I read those threadsI can see the best proc is an i7 but if I go to your recommend pc builder websites it's obvious a Xeon is better...so...I'm confused....What should I get to be careless of hardware since I want to use over 20 VI with MIR ?

  • Hi Ramu,

these XEON processors (5500 and up) are of course the better choice, and also more expensive. How many more than 20 VI´s do you want to use, and how much RAM do you want to load with these, approximately?

I am working on an i7 950 with 12 GB of RAM and can find out for you.

    Best,

    Paul

  • I'm using the Full cube with vsl preset for cubase vst exp  + extras articulations.

On my i7 920 with 12 gigs I'm limited and I can't load solo strings and app strings...

Now I know MIR needs about 4 gigs on its own...12 gigs are quite low...and in terms of processor I see my i7 is already haveing hard times sometimes...so I was thinking of getting a XEON.

I wanted to wait for MIR PRO but maybe I won't have choice (shame)

  • Hello Ramu,

MIR is top-level technology, so it needs raw processing power - I guess that´s the trade-off. Also, the prices for RAM seem to rise at the moment...

    Tough decision, I know.

  • Thanks for your answer :)

Concerning the new computer I'm thinking of getting one from Xe Machines, the certified workstation. I wonder, what means certified?

I wish to load MIR with tons of VI playing all as hell, would it be possible to know the limitations of each configuration?

    Thx

  • Hello Ramu,

"certified" means that we have been in close contact with the system builders and that these machines are carrying the components with the highest standards. We are also using some of these machines here in Vienna.

Please write a short email to , so that we can talk about the specs in detail!

    Best,

    Paul

    @Ramu said:

Now I know MIR needs about 4 gigs on its own.

Just for the sake of completeness: The amount of RAm needed by MIR is also dependant on the Venue you decided to load. An upcoming RoomPack will contain the IRs of a cathedral, which needs 4.9 GB all by its own ... 8-)

  • Good to know.

Now that I own MIR on my i7 920 I can see the limitations with RAM using "only" 12 gig.

I'm wondering, would it be better to have a XEON or a i7 (the best edition of both proc) to run MIR with 24 gigs ?

    Thanks
