  • mini MIR for Mac

Although the new impulse packages expand the range of the existing convolution reverb on the Mac, they are still an external envelope. Is there any hope of Vienna Symphonic Library ever producing an internal mixing path similar to MIR for the Mac? Even a stripped down version with less bells and whistles that allow a composer to accurately place instruments on a 3D stage and mix from the inside out would be better than nothing.

Whether you think you can or can"t do something, your probably right!

  • there is hope, but there is not even an idea about a schedule.

the first thing we're waiting for is a new macPro generation providing full triple channel memory support and enhanced NUMA support in OS X.

a few possible bottlenecks still exist for the MIR-type of convolution so i can't wait to check out the XEON 56xx behaviour.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks Christian.

  • Steve, just a small addition to Chris` message: We have no plans for a "Mini MIR" at all , but we hope that we will be able to release Vienna MIR for OSX one day (and hopefully the upcoming Vienna MIR Pro, too).

At the moment, some users work with MIR on a Mac using BootCamp and Windows Vista / Windows 7, which is sufficient for small to medium arrangenments.
