  • Wierdness with VEP in Logic 9.1

    Hi,

When I have VEP set up in logic it all works fine (using VEP on the same computer). When I press stop I get a hideous 'buzz'., This is in fact the last played note sticking on and repeating at an insanely fast rate, much like looping a sample that is only a nano second long. This only seems to happen with Stylus RMX, not other instruments I have running in VEP (or logic for that matter).

It seems as if RMX in VEP (I feel like an american hung up on Abbrevations!!) is receiving repeated midi 'note on' info....It may be just happening in VEP though.

I should mention I am running logic with core audio (FF400) AND protools HD3A hardware with both core audio and DEA mode active in logic.

    Mac pro Nehalem 2.66 / 12gb ram / OS10.5.8 / PL9.1/PT8.0.1/VEP 4686/ latest versions of all AU's including RMX etc.

    Any ideas.

~P.S. this does not happen on a new session until I activate a DAE/TDM audio channel to record......Is this another cue to go native in Logic?!

    Thanks in advance.

    Gavin.

  • Could you install the latest update (4.0.4881) and see if this problem persists?

  • Hi thanks for the reply.

Well....Yes I guess I can....but I'm in the middle of a project with a hideous deadline so I'm a little reluctant in case of further complications!!!

Is 4881 a Beta version? Is it Quantified with Logic 9.1 running in 32 bit mode on OS10.5.8 with DAE + Core audio drivers active in Logic?

    Thanks.

    Gavin.

  • 4881 is not a beta version and is more stable than 4686, so I can only recommend it.

  • Excellent!

I'll give it a try and let you know.

    Thanks for your help.

    Gavin.

  •  Hi,

I have a problem with 9.1 too, I think it's useful to post it here rather than open a new thread.

With 9.1, If my sequencer have tempo change, Omnisphere arps in VEPro will play in a wrong speed (tempo) - looks like it will play fine with staring tempo but beginning to fail when the tempo in logic is changing.

I don't have that problem in previous setup (Logic 9.0.2 and VEPro Beta - released Jan 8) I am using tempo change a lots so I am pretty sure.

I am not sure which one causing the problem (Logic 9.1 or new update VEPro) so please investigate this ASAP.

    Anybody having this problem?

    Thanks

    Sonny

PS: Mac 8 Core, OSX 10.5, 20 GB Ram, newest Omnisphere update.

  • Hi Karel,

Ok, I installed the update, all fine. Generally works all fine.

I still have the same problem though, but more intermittant!

    To try to explain:

Same as before, pressing stop in Logic the RMX part seems to be stuck on fast repeat, as if the note off info is not quite holding. It seems as though there may be some kind of midi info feedback loop going on (a guess...I'm not a computer code programmer!)

it is more intermittant now though. 9 times out of 10 if I select an audio object in logic it now stops the problem. If I select a soft instrument channel assigned to VEP it re activates the problem, even if I disable midi thru (deselect red record light in channel strip).

Furthermore, it does not seem confined to RMX. I have a seperate instance of VEP running Omnisphere multitimbrally on my current song and some notes with this are sticking too in the same manner.

One point. When I instanciate VEP in Logic I get a window asking me if I want to allow VEP to accept incoming data thru the firewall. It seems to make no difference if I click Allow, or Deny. I get this window every time I boot VEP in Logic.

I shall continue to experiment as I work, I have a 4 song deadline to be finished in 10 days. Thankfully, apart from this annoying glitch VEP is excellent software and highly stable...it has saved my life with the 32 bit restriction in Logic (I'm on 10.5.8 OS), and your work is to be commended!!

    Any ideas / suggestions?

    Kind regards.

    Gavin.
