  • [SOLVED] MIR Graphic Display Issues

I am having a problem where MIR displays nothing but a huge white box in place of the actual venue.  This has been going on for a long time.

I thought maybe it was my monitor being to old, so I bought a new 28 inch monitor.  That didn't fix it so I went and bought a brand new 1 gigabyte ATI Radeon video card.  That didn't fix it either.  No matter what I do or setting I change video wise I get the same result, a huge white box where I should be seeing the stage and seating.  The only thing that shows up inside the white box is the instrument icons.

I am running my video at 1920 x 1200.  It happens locally and through remote desktop both so it's not just remote desktop.  I boot up the machine, launch MIR, load a venue and instantly all I get is the big white box.  I have tried restarting the venue, picking another venue, stopping the MIR engine and restarting it etc.  Nothing seems to work.  I have the most up to date video drivers for both the monitor and the video card.  I have tried numerous other programs and none of them experience this behavior.

Everything else about MIR seems to be working though.  I have no issues with the sound engine etc.  It just seems to be a graphical issue.  Any ideas how to fix this?

    Running MIR 1.1 Build 1670.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Maestro2be,

looks as if your graphics card can not display the MIR venue image in full resolution.

You can change the venue image's resulution here:

Menu "Options" -> "Preferences": "Venue Image Detail Level"

The default value is 1x, please choose 0.5x (or even 0.25x) and load another venue, then you should see the venue image.

Please let me know if this does not help!

  • hmmm, 1 GB ATI? should do the job pretty well ...

what i had to do a while ago (with a windows 7 beta though) was to not rely on the W7 built in drivers but download and install the latest catalyst driver from the ATI website.

white squares indicate the openGL subset is not initialized properly (as it happens over remote desktop)

  • Not sure why but I decided to uninstall the latest ATI drivers and software, re-install them and now it works fine.  The Video drivers must not have properly completed even though they didn't say they had an issue.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Phew! Good to hear that the issue could be solved like that.

    All the best,

  • Thanks Dietz,

I am also glad it was such an easy fix.  Also I wanted to note for anyone else reading the thread, that I used to get the exact same symptoms from Remote Desktop (which due to Open GL issues that was understandable).  I just wanted to note that when I set MIR from 1x in options, to .5x remote desktop now works as expected as well (no more blank white stages).

  • sometimes also this workaround allows 1x over remote desktop: launch MIR from the console, then take over the running session into remote desktop.
