  • program change protools / Vepro

While program changes work flawless with protools and ve pro I still have the problem that I can not see any patchnames but plain patchnummbers. In logic it is no problem to create a bank file with all patchnames. In Protools you need a midnam file. Does anybody here know how I can create such a midnam/bank file for Protools. I cant get this to work. Or is this only possible for hardware synths?
Could VSL provide such a basic midnam file for VePro? For working with articulations this would be very helpful.

  • New VE Pro user here. I too would love to know the answer to this question. Thanks

  • As far as I found out the filename thing is only possible for hardware synths.
You can create "named" progam/bank changes in Logic and in Reaper (which works best for that).
What you can do with Pro Tools is to create new banks in your sampler plugin that allways host certain articulations on certain program numbers and banks. For example your legato articulations could be in bank 2 or all your long notes in bank 1.
By doing that you hopefully will remember the progran numbers of certain articulations at some point.
I have created exel lists with articulations and their bank and program numbers. The lists is on my desk in case I don't remember which program number belongs to which articulation.
