  • Sibelius & VEpro - saving the playback configuration

Regularly I see "project saved" in the lower part of a VEpro windows after saving the play configuration. So I guess, when saving the playback configuration in Sibelius, also the save function in VEpro is triggered automatically.

If so, what exactly saved in VEpro under which conditions? The project, all the projects of all VEpro instances, the metaframe? What if I opened the VE projects by opening one metaframe? Will then the metaframe be saved automatically?

Again thanks in advance for any answer.

  • Hi Wim!

By saving the Playback Configuration in Sibelius you save all settings of all opened VE Pro instances and other VST- or AUinstruments. So you don't have to save the Metaframe additionally.

Saving the metaframe in VE Pro does about the same. This makes sense if you also want to use the same configuration with another host software.

  • Hi Andy!,

Thanks for your reply. Just to make sure; are all settings of all VEpro instances that Sibelius is connected with 1) saved by Sibelius (at my master computer), or 2) by VEpro (at my slave computer)?

If 1) then it's "better" to load the VE instances on my slave by choosing the Sibelius play back configuration? Instead of first loading the metaframe on my slave computer, and connect Sibelius as soon as the instances are loaded?
If 2) does VEpro overwrite the original metaframe file each time I save my Sibelius playback configuration?

    Abraços,

    Wim

  • Hi Wim!

With the Sibelius Playback configuration you save all settings on your master computer. I think the most comfortable way is to just open the Vienna Ensemble Pro server on all machines, where you want to load VE Pro instances. Then start Sibelius and load your score (and Playback Configuration). This way you don't even have to care about the metaframe.

  • Olá Andi,

ok. This is totaly clear to me. Will only save metaframes when transfering my score to my DAW for detailed editing. Then I can use the saved metaframe to connect my DAW to instanciate VEpro with exactly the same settings as in Sibelius. Right?

Only have to make backups of my Sibelius playback configuration(s).

    Abraços,

    Wim
