  • Keyboard Problem

Hi, I don't have a 88 Key Master-Keyboard, only a middle (49 Key) Keyboard, wich is more a Keyboard for little children ;) But is it possible to use this one, too? Where can I configurate it? I thought under "Options" -> "Configure" and than "MIDI", but there I can't see this Keyboard. I connect it with a cable wich I put in the microphone input at the computer. When I play than, I hear the Key-Board over my loudspeakers. What is wrong there? Was läuft da falsch? Wie kann ich das Keyboard für Vienna benutzen? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

  • you'll need a keyboard which has midi output on it, and then a midi input on your computer. If its a really keyboards with midi, it will have theold, big MIDI 5-pin DIN connectors (a round plug with five litte pins inside it) . But if it is a newer keyboard with midi, it should be able to transmit midi via USB connection.

However, if it doesnt have midi at all, you cant use it :)

  • Hi!

Finally some question where (I think that) I can help:
How is the keyboard connected? If over some midi cable it means that you need to select the Midi Interface (e.g.: from your soundcard), and your keyboard will not show up. Which model of keyboard is it? Does it say anything about midi?

    Best regards

    Gabriel

  • Oh, yes, I don't pay attention to the MIDI-competence of my Keyboard. I don't know wheater it have MIDI, but I don't think so. I don't know the name of the cable in englich, but in german it's a 3,5mm Klinkenstecker, wich I put in the Headphone output at the Keyboard (the only output of this keyboard). But, how michael said, the Keaboard don't have an output wich look like his descripton. So, I know what I want to Birthday ;) A Keyboard with MIDI. When the MIDI output looks special, do I need also a special cable to connect it with my PC, or simply in the USB port at the Computer, ho michael said?

  • most modern keyboard are using USB, but there are also models out there using the 5-pin DIN connector only.
