  • Sibelius: oboe.french doesn't [reset] after staccato articulation

I wrote a simple line containing a staccato quarter note followed by a half note without any articulation. All wind instruments switch back from 5B "perf-rep staccato" to 2A "sustain" accept the oboe! Even when I explicitaly add a staff text "normal" to the half note, the [reset] doesn't work for the oboe? Any help is welcome!!! AbraƧos, Wim Dijkgraaf

  • Not only the oboe, also the Bb clarinet. All other instruments in the VE Special Edition Plus sound set that use the "winds" switch type work fine. AbraƧos, Wim Dijkgraaf

  • Hello Wim!

This might be a Sound ID problem from Sibelius. Do you have more than one oboe and clarinet in your score?

You can try the following (Sibelius 5): Go to the Sibelius mixer and reassign the sound ID (third line in the mixer) of the instrument which doesn't switch correctly. If you use the same sound ID more than once, be careful to assign it in the right order. For example, the first line with "winds.oboes.oboe" for the first oboe and
the second line with "winds.oboes.oboe" for the second oboe.

Another thing you can try: Create a new version of the problematic instrument, cut out the content of the old instrument and paste it into the new one.

In Sibelius 6 setting the right channels in the Sibelius mixer should do the trick.

    I hope this helps.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi!

Yes, you're right. It's a Sibelius problem. I had to re-assign the sound ID and to just toggle up/down on the midi channel.

Hope it won't come back often ... .

    Thanks for your support.
