    When the dongle is not present scanning the plugin folder leads to unresponsiveness of the host sennding into some kind of halt/freeze. I experienced this with Ableton Live and Reaper. After a restart with the dongle everything worked again. Anyway I tink that having not a dongle at hand should only make the one plugin useless and not the complete host.

    Which plugin are you referring to, VI or VE Pro?

    Vienna Instruments. When the host (re)scans the plugins after a change and the dongle is not present then the host litteraly stands still. I am getting a white square (probably some window that does not appear correctly) in the middle of the screen and the host is not respnsive anymore. Same happens when you insert VI without having the dongle inserted. Right now Ableton Live intro "died" after inserting VI with no dongle. Other programs that use the same protection give you a message that you have no dongle but - at least in my case - VI does not.

    Basically I´d recommend to have the key inserted when using Vienna Instruments 😉. Do you have the current version of the eLicenser (eLCC) installed and does it show an error message with this version?

    I just realized that there is - AGAIN - a new version for OSX. I'll check this one out.

    I understand that you need copy protection. But I have to say that the first Vepro version could only be installed with a beta version of the elicencer on OSX and since then I had to update at least twice to keep Vepro running. This is somehow annoying, especially since I have to check out manually if there is an elicencer update is available - the software does not perform an update check on its own. Since I move the dongle around between differen OSes I have to check everything twice... Maybe you should consider another protection system that is less frustrating. Syncrosoft has been cracked anyway as far as I know. The Garritan protection seems very reasonable to me or an internet athorization like Propellerheads Record uses when there is no dongle around.
