  • VEpro/samplez missing

Hey Friends I'm in big trouble with VEpro(built4686). I use Cubase5Studio on a 3Ghz pentium4(2GbRam) and as slave i have got a Lenovo Laptop with 2,3Ghz and also 2 Gb Ram. everytime i open a project in cubase everything starts as usual. Project opens, VEpro built up connection and begins to load all used samples. But everytime there seem to be a lot of samples missing. When i start with "play" a lot of sounds came undone and i see that the harddisk of my laptop starts heavy working. when i've got played the whole song at least one time completly everything works good. All sound are available and everything sound good. i tried to give VEpro more time to load the samplez(for fun 10min for about 800Mb) right before playing first time but there is no difference. Also in the swap file there seems nothing missing. samples are loaded to Ram but somehow they seemed not to be available in VEPro. btw i did not use the learnfunction of VSL instruments. Can anybody give me some help please?

  • It sounds like you have a harddisk that is a bit slow in your laptop, which does not deliver the data to VE Pro fast enough. When Windows disk caching has had time to do its magic after a playthrough, everything seems ok. I would suggest trying with a faster drive.

  • Hey Martin thx for your reply. i can't imagine that my harddisk is the main problem. with the earlier versions of VEpro i couldn't notice that behavior. I also tried an external USB-harddisk. Don't know if this one is faster but with the 'new' Betaversion it was the same effect as with the internal harddisk. i also don't know if i understand the loading process right. I would except that all needed data is loaded with starting and connecting VEpro to my master/daw PC. I can see how the ram-memory raise to nearly 800Mb shortly after starting.at some point loading stops, i give the system some extra time and play my project. At this point some samplez might be missing because the harddisk starts working again. but after playing the whole song the volume of the ram-memory hasn't raised even further. Have you got any tips or a short description how the memorymanagement works?
