  • New Enhancement Request

    Hi Vienna Team,

I was wondering if there is a way that once a custom matrix is saved for an instrument, that if one would want to use that same matrix in another instrument (i.e. Violins I and Violins II or Clarinets I & Clarinets II etc. for example), that the VI interface for the new instrument (that may already be loaded and setup) would recognize it from the menu?  Currently the only way that I have found to make this happen is to dump the second instrument and reload forcing the menu to be updated.  The newly created matrix is only visible in the instrument where it was created.  This approach was ok using VI in a sequencer but in using VE-PRO (or ensemble), one not only dumps the instrument but also all the Audio inserts, volume, pan and labeling setup creating additional work and time.  The only other way that I've been able to figure out would be to dump the entire VE-PRO setup and reload.  Having six instances of VE-PRO linked with a metafile does take considerable time to load making this option not very user friendly.

If there was a way to refresh the menu (i.e. have a menu refresh button on the VI interface for example - much like Logic allows one to refresh the Media Library), would make this process much easier and straight forward.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this?

  •  You can duplicate channels in VEpro. Very convenie.t.

  •  I agree wholeheartedly that these new Presets and matrices should be visible straight away. [:D]

  • Duplicate the second instrument. Since the samples are already in RAM they will not be reloaded again.
The new copy will have the updated matrix list.
Delete the original and rename the copy...

I agree though; a refresh button that will make the VI rescan the presets/matrices folder would be nice.

I agree duplicating will get you part of the way there but doesn't solve the issue if one already has the second instrument setup with it's own plug-in configuration, pans, etc. (which is most of the time that I run into this issue) and only want's to add a single new matrix that happened to be created with another instrument during the same session.

The only efficient way would be to refresh the menu so that the newly created matrix would be visible to any instrument.  It would also benefit the users who are not using VE-PRO but just VI in a sequencer to not have to dump and reload in order to see the new matrix.

Not sure if this is an issue in MIR considering that the VI interface is also present.  Hope this clarifies a little better.
