  • Sibelius and Vienna Pro on the same PC (Windows Vista)

Until yesterday it was working but now I don't remember how.

I have a Sibelius file with Device: Vienna Ensemble Pro

Sound set: VE woodwinds + brass

    use manual sound set checked

all the 5 saxophones from channel 1 till 5 as "program"

and a Vienna Ensemble Pro (v4.0 build 4657 64 bit) Project  with the 5 saxophones from chan. 1 to 5.

The windows with the connect button doesn't appear anymore so I hear no sound. Why?

Operating system is: Windows Vista 64 bit and Sibelius is 6.1

  • Hi Sergino!

Did you start Vienna Ensemble Pro Server before opening Sibelius?

What happens, when you click on Show Vienna Ensemble Pro in the Playback Devices window?

  •  OK Andy,

I missed clicking on Show Vienna Ensemble Pro in the Playback Devices window

    now it works

but I don't understand why it has worked before  without clicking show.

    Thanks

    Sergino

  •  Hello Sergino,

I'm trying to setup VePro on slave communicating with Sibelius on master PV via midi-over-lan.

My Sibelius doesn't see VePro as a playback device.  Is that because there is no VePro VST plugin on the master PC?

    thanks,

    Jim Ferguson

  • Hello Jim!

VE Pro has to be installed on the master and on the slave computer. Please start Vienna Ensemble Pro Server on your slave, before starting Sibelius. You don't need MIDI over LAN. A network connection is enough.

  •  Andi,

Will I need an additional license key for the PC master?

    Thanks,

    Jim Ferguson

  • Jim, if you intend to use Vienna Ensemble PRO itself on your Master Computer for loading samples as well, you will need one license (and key) for your Master Computer.
If you are only loading samples on your Slave Computer, you will only need a key attached to that machine.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Andi,

I installed the VePro on my master computer, placing the VST in /program files/sibelius software/VSTplugins. But, sibelius 6 doesn't show ensemble pro as a playback device.

    What am I missing?

    thanks again for you answers,

    Jim F.

    Andi,

I have made some progress since my last note to you.

I now have the VePro showing up as an active playback in Sibelius. And I have assigned some instruments to the manual setup, i.e. cornet. However, I'm not sure I'm selecting and assigning the patches on the VEPRO on my slave computer. I have no audio.  With the same VePro instrument connections, my Sonar sequencer will play the selected instruments via midi-over-lan ports and channels.

What would you suggest I try at this point?

    thanks,

    Jim Ferguson
