  • can't get EZ Drummer to work in multi-channel mode with Logic 9 via VEPro Server!

Here's what I've tried (to no avail): - I've opened VEPro 32 bit server and instantiated EZDrummer. In EZDrummer's mixer, I've switched to "Multi-Channel". - In Logic, I've created a stereo software instrument track (I've also tried this by creating a 16-track Multi-Channel Instrument); and on the first track created I've instantiated VEPro and connected with the EZDrummer loaded above. - in Logic's Mixer I then have clicked on the first track created and hit the plus sign to add Aux tracks connected to that initial track. - What I EXPECT to happen is: when I play my midi keyboard, the various sounds are heard and are routed to the various AUX tracks. What I ACTUALLY hear is a (very sad sounding :-)) dull bass drum sort of sound, with no activity on any of the AUX tracks at all. My question: does EZ Drummer work multi-instrument-wise (ie. controllable from various AUX tracks in Logic so I can insert individual effects on just the snare, adjust relative volumes, etc.), and, if so, HOW? I'm particularly wondering since you've listed EZDrummer as among the plug-ins that are said to "work" with VEPro, and it would be helpful to verify that this is truly the case (not merely as a stereo instantiation, but in multi-instrument mode as well). Thanks for any help! Sincerely,1 - robjohn99 ---- Mac Pro (early 2009) with 12 gigs RAM, running VEPro (latest beta just released), Logic 9.02; EZ Drummer, Snow Leopard 10.6.1

  • Ok - I'm starting to get it. I see that you're supposed to create additional inputs within the VePro's Mixer (Command-I) and then set it's inputs/outputs accordingly...After a bit of fiddling I think I've got it working!... - robjohn99

  • Ok - I spoke too soon - I STILL can't get it to work. I'm using the next-to-most recent beta (the most recent caused some problems and so I back-graded)...Basically, when I create Audio Instrument tracks in the VEPro mixer after instantiating EZDrummer, there is no way to set their inputs to anything other than "no input", even when EZDrummer has been switched to multi-channel in it's own mixer. As a consequence, when I open the VePro server in Logic 9 and create aux channels as per usual in Logic's mixer, the different EZ Drummer drums do not appear on the different aux channels. This is very frustrating as EZ is quite the memory hog and I'd like to offload it from within Logic (which is otherwise where I'm forced to keep it). Is this a known problem and, if so, has it been corrected in the most recent beta? Is it possible I'm STILL doing something wrong? Much thanks! - robjohn99 MacPro (early 2009), 12 gigs RAM; VEPro, MacG5, Logic 9.01, Snow Leopard 10.6.2

  • NEVER MIND :-) - the problem has been fixed in the latest VEPro beta. You guys rock! - ronjohn99
