  • VI Midi CC no response

I have a frequent problem that Logic sends CC (expression for example)  to VI and the VI doesn't respond, because the CC received is not near it current state. An example:

Sequence 1 played fine, and ends with a fade-out. The expression slider in VI is now at 00. At some point later i play sequence 2. It has a crescendo from 70-110. However, the expression slider on Vi stays at 00. The only way for it to respond is to add a crescendo from 00-70 during the rests.

It seems that VI will only respond to controllers if they "go past" their current settings. I remember dealing with some software (was it Mainstage?) where this behaviour was user-definable, so you could select between the scenario as described above, or an absolute response, ie, the instruments slider jumps immediately to whatever CC is received.

    Am I missing something?

  • Ahh I've just done some investigation on this: VI does in fact respond immediately to any controller, but Logic doesn't record the automation. But I found that turning off "pick up mode" in automation settings solves the problem...

  • Yup, you answered your own question [:)] but what do you mean by "pick up mode" in Logic (which version)? Or did you mean the control changes in "chase" settings?
