Chumley, assign the sounds to inputs in VE Pro and create corresponding auxes in Logic to receive them. Then automate the auxes.

Marnix,
By automating volumes and pans directly in logic as per your suggestion, I am having a slight issue with sound quality. Whenever the sequence gets to the automated event, there is a weird digital sound accompanied by some crackling and popping. I'm not using very many samples and I've turned the buffer size all the way to 1024 and it still happens. Have you experienced this at all and if so do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
Thanks again,
Chumley

Hi Chumley,
Hmm, no, I havenĀ“t experienced this here...
Which version of VE Pro are you using?
And could you please give me a little more information about your system, i.e. CPU, RAM, Audio Interface and drivers...etc...
If you want to, you can send me the zipped Logic song to m.veenenbos@vsl.co.at and I will see if I can somehow reproduce the problem!
Best, Marnix

Automating VEPĀ“s Volume and Pan in Logic is not of much use if you cannot automate the sends as well.
Automating the Aux returns from VEP in Logic works in this regard but I have trouble recording fades while I play Vienna Instruments in VEP. My MC Control / MC Mix insist of *only* displaying Auxes *or* instruments at a time.
Does anybody have a fix for this? Or how do you ride the volume while playing a VI?
Also, its not ideal to have two tracks necessary in LogicĀ“s arrange page for every VEP channel.
Bit of a downer, this snag is standing in the way of a great workflow......
All the best,
Jochen

Since most of the libraries I use have modwheel patches that control both volume and timbre or volume and vibrato, I automate volume by riding cc1 or sometimes cc11 with an Expression pedal in real time and use Logic's Track based volume as a kind of trim.
