  • [SOLVED] Problem opening MIR Projects after trying to open ET Demo

I tried to download and open the ET Demo and none of the MIR files would open for me.  I would say open, point to the .mir file and it would just say, "prject failed loading" in the bottom left corner.

After that, it completely prevents me from opening anything in MIR (including any of my own working projects).  If I close out MIR, and restart it I can once again open my own projects and create new ones.  But if I touch the ET demo files it breaks MIR completely (the MIR engine won't even start if you try to open the ET files).

Was hoping to get some example stage setup files to see how you setup your stage to get the most realism out of it.

    Thanks,

    Maestro2be

  • Hmmmm ... I downloaded the tutorial from our website a few minutes ago, and it loads without any problems.

  • That's strange Dietz.  I download the tutorial, extract the zip file which contains the midi file and the MIR files broken down into sections (Brass, Strings etc).  I start up MIR everything runs perfectly (I can open my own projects and make new ones no problem).  But if I touch the demo files it just gives me that little popup error message that it cannot open that file and then nothing works in MIR anymore until I restart the whole application.

Do you have the Konzerthaus Roompack installed on your machine and is it possible to use "Großer Saal" for your own projects?

Can you please try again and catch the exact error message? It might make a difference when you stop the engine before you load the project...  And having a look at the CPU and memory load while loading the project might be interesting too - maybe you just run out of memory?

    All the best, Florian

  • I am going to load up my machine and test this right now for you.  Be back in a few minutes.

Oh wait - I just checked the demo project from the website and found an old (and broken) version of the Williams demo there.

I'll upload a fixed version of the demo asap!

  • EDIT - Florian was faster than me ... :-D

    ++++++++++++++

    Hi again,

We investigated the case a bit further, and it seems as the tutorial is actually referring to an older version of the RoomPack (which we didn't realize as we have them installed on our systems for development purposes). I'll let you know when the revised tutorials are online.

Sorry for the confusion ... :-/

  • I turned on my MIR machine and launched MIR.

    1.  First I stopped the engine.

    2.  I then went to select Venue and I have 7-8 Konzerthaus selections (I loaded the room pack yesterday 1.0.161, and I am running MIR version 1.0 build 1563, I just verified this in the help, about MIR).

    3.  I selected "Konzerthaus GrosserSaal" and chose "7th row".  it loaded.

    4.  I then started the engine and inserted a Violin Staccato patch to test it.  It worked (as I expected it to).

    5.  Now I go to file, open and it says do you want to save this current project.  I say "no" and then the open file menu appears.  I go to "downloads, MIR Demos, ET folder" and there 5 MIR project files.  1 for each section.

    6.  I pick solo strings because it is one of the smallest files and I also own that library.

The second I say "open" MIR "flashes" as if it's about to load something and then stops and the error pops up (within 1 second).  After I get that error message I can't load any projects anymore.  If I try to hit the start engine AFTER the error pops up, MIR totally crashes and I get the windows crash error message.

I captured the popup error message to a file but need to know where to send it to please.  Also I can send you the MIR crash log if you can tell me where it is located.

I have 10GB of available RAM before I even attempted to open the one project file.  The CPU "jumps" at the initial load screen prior to the error message but it only goes up to 14-15% CPU.  No where near the red.

    Thanks,

    Maestro2be

  • Lol no problem.  I will test it as soon as the links ready :).  I am just glad it's not my machine that is causing the problems (MIR has been incredibly stable on this AMD machine, it hasn't given me one problem other then this demo file).  I thought I was having "Audio" issues but I found out they were caused by IPMIDI.  I got rid of them and put MOL on my machine and all the problems went away.

I am going to be doing some performance tests for you guys here real soon too.

  •  Tutorial file should be updated, sorry for the hassles.

    best

  • Thanks guys the projects load now!

  • Hold your horses - it could be that it is more about a broken weblink, pointing to an older file. I'll let you know.
