  • Separate Outputs from VE Pro to Logic 9

Hi all.  I've been using Pro Tools for a few years, but recently bought Logic Express 9 and I'm trying it out.

I would like MIDI regions in Logic to trigger the samples in Vienna Ensemble Pro, and I'd like to then route the audio from each channel in VE Pro back into Logic on separate channels for processing and mixing.  I know it can be done because I've seen it on the Vienna Ensemble 3 video.  It's probably easy, but since I'm new to Logic, it's not easy for me.  I've tried reading the manual, but haven't found anything yet.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Gary,

Page 21 of the VE Pro manual gives a complete walk through step by step with pictures.

  • Thanks.  I had read that, but I think I missed the "multi-timbral" checkbox.  It's working now.  However...

I've noticed that I have to name the tracks of the multi-timbral instrument in the Arrange window, and then, in the Mixer window, name the tracks associated with the instrument again.  Is there a way to name tracks only once?

I noticed in the score, that all the tracks associated with the multi-timbral instrument say the same thing ("Inst 1" for example), and that they cannot be renamed (to Oboe, Clarinet, etc.).  Is there a way to rename them, and does this mean I have to rename all tracks a third time?

Can you explain how you use VE Pro in Logic?  I feel like I must be missing something (probably a lot of things).  Do you have several instances, one for each section, or something else?  Also, do you use the score editor in Logic?  Thanks for any assistance.
