  • Automation Logic 9/VEpro - Artefacts?

i just gladly found that the single miditracks from a multiinstrument assigned to VEpro have the option to automate corresponding channels in VEpro. cool. but after i finally found the right channel (out of 64?) i got massive artefacts on any change of volume through automation. is this a bug or rather a (wrong) setting? apart from this issue it would be cool if every channel in an instance of VEpro has an absolute number (visible in the mixer) which is definitely corresponding to the number you can choose in the host for volume/pan/send automation. things mess up very quickly and itĀ“s hard to track the right channel.

  • o.k., it works with latency set to none only.

  • re: automation channels, now i got it. the channel numbers just follow the channel succession in the mixer. but that would mean if i choose to work with one template on different projects using the preserve functionality, i only can add new instruments to the end of the list and keep them there, because if i move say the newly added VLN2 behind VLN1 in VEpro, automation channels change for all following channels. then other host-projects using this (constantly growing) template get their automation messed up everytime i add something to the template. on the other site you may keep the original order forever but then, your VEpro instance gets very cluttered and unclear. and what happens if you delete an instrument? hmm seems not like the way to work, on the other hand i donĀ“t like the idea to deal with 2 tracks per instrument in the host

  • I was thinking along similar lines, but this would require an automation assignment of a generic VST parameter to whatever slider or feature you wish to automate. It would not be very obvious to the host which channel is which, since they would pretty much appear as "VE Pro Param1, VE Pro Param2" etc.

I'll see if we can come up with some new scheme that is both convenient and flexible.

  • thanks for the reply. well, tracks could have a fixed channelnummer, as it is in logic. there you have the tracknumber following the arrangement. but you also have a fixed channelnumber, that stays "forever". this channelnumber could be visible e.g. in the mixer view, just as i originally expected. this way even if you change an instrument, you at least always see the corresponding automation-channel number, and things donĀ“t mess up too exessive by one simple change...

  • Hmmm...

that means that the mixerview would get a mayhem of channel numbers depending on when the track was added... But it might actually be the best solution for now. I'll schedule it for implementation.
