  • VE PRO LOCKS UP - REQUIRES REBOOT

When loading a patch into a Matrix using the mouse, VE-PRO will occasionally lock-up in Loading Mode and then quits responding requiring a reboot and reload.  This action is not new to Vienna Ensemble as I have experienced this with previous versions of VE2 and VE 3.

At the time, I was advised that the issue was that I was getting close to my memory limitations.  Now using VE-Pro, Snow Leopard, the latest release of elicense (approved for Snow Leopard) and 9.22 GB of 16 GB available, I'm still experiencing the issue.  As I am loading my orchestral template, the problem is increasing as more instruments are being loaded.  NOT GOOD....

    Using a Mac-Pro 8-core 16GB Machine with 3-30" Monitors, Apogee Ensemble audio interface and a M-Audio Pro-88 keyboard.

    Any thoughts???

  • Some Additional Info....

I repaired permissions on both the system drive and drive that holds the VSL Library.  I also rescanned the VSL Library.  Reloaded what I had, loaded Cubase 5, and tried again.  After loading 4 patches and at the point I was at when is crashed the first time, I loaded the Bass Clarinet portamento medium patch and it locked again.  This time I noticed the infamous white box on my middle screen.  That box is the same size as the Syncrosoft dialog.  I do have the latest elicense software loaded but makes me wonder.

After another reboot, I verified that the Bass Clarinet portamento medium patch would load.  That worked ok.  Then I reloaded VE-PRO and began to load up the Bass Clarinet patches but this time without having Cubase loaded.  It worked.

Not sure if I'm running up against a memory block (although I shouldn't be with almost 50% of RAM still available) or if there is a licensing issue or something to do with Cubase and it's ability to remember the patches as they are loaded.

    Still looking for advise......
