  • VE Pro Multi instances

I have VE Pro slaved on a XP64. The DAW is DP7 with DAE or PT8, I use both (so coming via RTAS)

I can get one instance of VE Pro on the PC slave up and running. It's about 4.8 gigs and seems to be fine. But as soon as I bring up another instance on the same slave, even one with only half a gig loaded, I get midi drops, suttering audio and end up having to reboot my Mac.

Is there an issue with running more than one instance on a slave for RTAS users? Has anyone else come across this problem?

  • Another minor issue I discovered with DP/RTAS is that when you send out on another stereo set from the slave to the master, in DP you need to set the incoming audio channel to one set higher. So, if you have audio going out NET3/4, in DP you need to set the input of the AUX channel to 5/6. I suspect this is a DP issue and not VSL.

I just wanted to point that out in case anyone else using DP/RTAS comes looking.

VE Pro is really great, for what it does. And so far the only issue I've had with VE Pro in DP/RTAS is based around conflicts in the naming of multi midi ports and multi audio ports coming from the same instance.  Which again, is probably a DP issue in that it's not handling the naming right and causing conflicts, but it sure would be nice if VSL just happened to find a way around it:)

  • Your suspicion is correct, naming of midi and audio ports is up to the host software.
