  • VEPRO: DP7 Mas, 0 error failure Initialize 213-1068

Anyone have any ideas on this?   DP7,  OS 10.6.1

What are the correct network settings to use for VEPro on 1 Mac? I'm looking for a VEPRO setup for dummies. It works in standalone but not as a plug in.

  • I am sorry if I am misunderstanding this but, what is the point of "networking" if you're using "1 Mac"?  If only using one Mac you should worry more about getting it to work as an AU etc.  DP7 is also brand new isn't it?

Also, go back to the download page in your user area, it has the manual for the software.  Right in the manual on page 24 they have completely shown you how to use it with Digital Performer with pictures and everything.  That's a true setup for dumbies :).

  • The manual does not show you how to set up the network connections for VEPro. What are the correct firewall settings for example?Do you use DHCP or manual addresses?  I've been using VE2 for years so there IS a reason for this.  VEPRO gives the same error in DP 6.02 so it's not JUST a DP7 issue.

Maestro: You are obviously misunderstanding this if you do not know the difference between VEPro and VE2.

  • I fully know the difference between VE2 and VE Pro but you didn't make any reference to the fact that you were using VE2 which is not a network plug-in.  VE3 is the network plug-in version.  So they are quite different in nature.  I was trying to understand why someone who is using "1 MAC" needs to setup a "network".  So the "misunderstanding" was merely me being polite to the fact that you hadn't given any details and thus we were being forced to assume things.  I also wasn't making any reference to it being as you put it "JUST" DP7.  I was simply pointing out the fact that because it just got released one with common sense could decipher the fact that VSL needs a little time to understand it's architecture changes and to make their proper code adjustments accordingly.  My original post to you was meant more in a light friendly manner, not in any way offensive etc.  I even purposely mispelled "dumbies" but that seems to have been missed as well :).

Christian (CM) has explained how to setup the network many times in the forums but I think it would do them some good to put a basic setup idea in the manual.  Problem is with every OS things can slightly be different on the setup side.  As well as now they will be sitting around supporting "how to network computers" which to me is not in their scope and shouldn't be.  There are 10 zillion examples on the internet of how to network two computers the best way.  That's not a VSL thing particular to VE Pro.  However like I said, if you do some searches in the forum for VE3 networking, you will see it explained in detail many times over and should give you what you need.  (especially if you search for threads that CM has posted in about it).

For future reference it makes it much easier to help when you give specific details as to your configuration and exact versions of software and hardware you are running.  May seem tedius but I guarentee the help responses you get will be far more accurate to your needs.

  • Dear Bruce,

I will look into this as soon as we have received our copy of DP 7. It hasn´t been released yet in Europe and according to the european dealer it will take a few days until the copies can be sent.

In the meantime it would be very helpful for us if you could provide the following information:

    1) <System Profile>

    - select "About this Mac" from your Apple Menu and click on "More Info..." to open the System Profiler

    - when everything is loaded, please save the profile through File/Save as.

    2) <Console log files>

    - go to utilities and open the tool <console>
    - open the system.log and save a copy of it, then open also the console.log and save a copy

Please send us also screenshots of the error messages that show up and crashlogs (if any). You´ll find the mail address to which you can send the files in a PM.

Thank you for helping us to narrow down this issue.

    /Regards,
