  • VE Pro not opening my project

The manual says that any project you have that used VE3 will now work with VE Pro.  So what am I doing wrong here.

    1.  Opening my Slave PC (64-bit Windows Machine) through Remote Desktop.  Starting the 64-bit VE Pro service.

    2.  Opening Logic on my Macbook Pro.  Open my project and Logic Freezes looking for VE3.

    3.  I then return to my 64-bit Windows Machine and launch 64-bit VE3 service.

    4.  Logic now finishes loading because it senses this service (I never had to force quit, it connected as soon as I brought up the old service).

    5.  In my Logic Project - I changed my channel setting from multi-timbral VE3 to VE Pro.

    6.  It launched the VE Pro windows on the slave machine however it didn't load any samples or configuration (it loaded a blank window with master bus and instrument one, same as any brand new VE3 window would have looked like the first time).

    7.  In VE Pro went to file, open and had VE Pro open my saved vframe files (projects) from VE3.  It loaded the channels etc but no samples, panning etc.

    8.  I decided to close everything so I didn't mess up anything permanently.  Relaunched my Logic project and it connected to the VE3 session as it always had.  Things work perfectly but are still only using VE3.

So I am basically at step one again.  How do I make it connect to VE Pro now, and have it actually load all my samples and panning etc?  Or did I misunderstand something?

    Thanks!

  • I am having a similar problem. I can open my old project in Finale, and then under AU switch the instrument to VE PRO. I then connect VE PRO to my computer as requested, but my old project samples from VE3 do not load.

  • Hi,

you can do 2 things: Either load your VE 3 project into your VE PRO instance, or click on the blinking "Load Data" arrow that shows up in the VE PRO interface when it is opened. You can then decide whether to load your data or discard the data.

    Hope that works for you.

  • Hi all,

To change a project successfully from an old VE version to the new VE Pro please save your ".viframe" within your OLD Vienna Ensemble version. Then change the plugin in your sequencer to the new plugin, now called "Vienna Ensemble Pro", connect to your running VE Pro server and load the corresponding "viframe" project in the newly created VE Pro instance. All samples and settings will now load correctly.

Please read my step 7 in the original post.  This neutralizes everything you just said lol 😊.

  • ok once more step by step:

    1. open VE3 server on your PC

    2. Open your Logic project using VE3 - everything should open as usual

    3. save your settings in VE3 as a ".viframe" file.

    4. kick the VE3 plugin in logic. your VE3 instance should close down on the PC

    5. shut down VE3 server on the PC

    6. launch VE Pro server

    7. insert VE Pro plugin in your sequencer and connect to your running VE Pro server. an empty instance will show up.

    8. load your ".viframe" settings from VE3 into your VE Pro manually. This should load all samples and settings.

    9. save your project in your sequencer with a new name.

    10. close this project in your sequencer.

    11. open it up again. it should now load all samples using the VE Pro plugin and the VE Pro server. no other server should run on your remote machine.

If step 8 does not load correctly try to go back to your VE3 setup and try to save the viframe using another name.

also check if you are using the latest elicenser software which is 6.0.1.8.

Paul I am sorry I don't see a blinking arrow.  I opened a stand alone and one in Logic as an AU as well as a network window.  Where might I find this arrow?

Thanks for helping us get this going.

  • Thanks Christian,

I never tried saving my Logic project because when it came up with blank windows of VE Pro even after loading the vframes, I didn't want to lose all my work.  I will try that one added step and let you know the results!

    Thanks you two!

  • Hi,

I think I didn´t really get enough sleep.... sorry for the misleading post.

The Load Data button is explained in the manual. If you preserve a session and connect to it again, the Server Interface in your sequencer pushes the VE PRO data to your VE PRO Server and will ask you whether you want to load or discard the data - do that if you have changed any settings. I have confused this, my bad.

You´ll see as you check out VE PRO.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Ok so I added the step Christian said of saving as a new name, closing and re-opening.  That worked and got all the samples to load.  However there is one more issue.

Every one of my AUX channels have a slash through them as if they can't find their plug-in.  So I had to highlight each AUX channel and tell it to use the same channel it already thinks it is listening on.  That removed the slash and sound started coming out.

Again not that big of an issue over all.  But any way to simplify that?

Thanks!  Almost there!  Going to test playback right now.
