  • VEPro fails plug-in scan in Digital Performer...any ideas

I'm running a G5 Dual 2gig PPC and after installing VEPro, it fails the "plug-ins" scan (Audio Units Examine).

    Any ideas?

    Rob

  • Do you have your dongle hooked up or is it on a slave machine?  My Logic 9 locked up too and couldn't complete the AU scan until I put in the dongle to let it finish processing it for some reason.

  • Hey Chris,

    Thanks for the reply.

I took a dongle off of one of my satellite computers and put it into my G5...still no go.

    Not sure what to do!

    Rob

  • It passes OK here then crashes when I open it. Does anyone know what file sharing items need to be enabled? thanks!

  • Well, I seem to be dead in the water! I've taken all components and plug-ins out and  left VEPro. Still fails!

Any ideas at all would be appreciated.

  • my guess is that it has something to do with network settings, firewall etc. which I have no idea how to set up.

  • No, I don't think the network has any role in this...this is just a verification for the plug-in to pass for "operation" in Digital Performer.

Something obviously is going on in DP since I assume other people with PPC are getting verification. This is so frustrating! I'm so close!!! Argh!!!!

  • hmm ok.. does it work in standalone?  we might be having the same problem- I'll check motunation. what OS are you using? seems you need at least 10.5

  • Hey Bruce,

I'm using DP 6.02 with OS X 10.4.11 on a G5 Dual 2gig...I wonder if I have to upgrade to Panther?

    Rob

  • from Frodo at motunation:

rather complex to describe quickly. It's sort of like a V-Rack on steroids. Initially, it was designed to work only with Vienna Instruments. Now it hosts third-party VIs and plugins and, if you are using two or more computers it does midi and audio over LAN.

And yes-- someone reported that it worked on their G5, but OSX 10.5 is required.

  • Working fine here.

Mac PPC G5 ( Leopard 10.5.8) as a Master running Digital Performer 5.13 and slaved PC quad Core.

Thanks Paul and all VSL Team!!

    VE3 Pro is GREAT!!

  • I had the same problem and it is because of the new e-licenser software of Syncrosoft.

    1. make a new start of osx.6

    2. do NOT open anything what can use the dongle.

    3. Start installing new syncrosoft software and turn off again.

    4. make new start of osx.6 and run control center of syncrosoft to check installed licenses.

    5. Now start your DAW and everything should work and scan correctly.

This is how it was working on my macbook.

    Hi Rob,

I tried using it last night with L7 on 10.4.11 and the plugin won't pass validation - it crashes. I believe that 10.4 isn't supported, even just for the AU/VST connector.

    Hey nicewieditz,

Thanks for the reply! I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing the first time...

What exactly are you refering to when you say "make a new start of osx.6?"

Sorry to be ignorant...I just want to get it rigt the first time!!!

    Thanks again!

    Rob

  • Indeed, OSX 10.4 is not supported.

  • Sorry for my wrong words.

I mean power the computer down and up.

No problem what so ever! I gave it a try and still no luck. I think I'll have to install Leopard and see if that'll work. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of projects and will have to wait until mid October before I go down that road!!!

    Very disappointing!!!

  • We are using new technologies which became available with Leopard. Tiger is now 4.5 years old, and in the computer world that is *alot*. Time to move on...

I hear you, Martin and am in total agreement. But I know you understand that when you have a "solid platform" for the particular DAW that you are using, you leave it alone. [:)] That has been the case with DP 5 & 6. Many bugs in the past couple of years that have kept many DP users from upgrading - and that includes me.

I'm in the middle of projects so I'll be doing this Leopard install mid October and hopefully I'll be up and running with VEPro. This also means that an 8 core is in the very near future.

Thanks for al of your brilliant work, Martin.

(btw, when I said "very disappointing" I meant that I was "bummed" that I couldn't get this to work and was no reflection on VSL)

All agreed, I do however fail to see how installing a new software in its first iteration rhymes with "leaving it alone"? [:P]
