Sib6 Hairpins not working with VSL

I'm using hairpins in Sibelius6 but they are not making any difference to the volume of the parts in Vienna Ensemble.

 I am new to Sibelius so I'm doing some test files. In a saxophone ensemble I have assigned ppp to a note then a crescendo hairpin going to a fff and it works very well

Which presets are you using ?

 Those made for the 5 saxophone s(DVD version) and now those made for the solos strings (DVD version) as well.

If you want hairpins to work under a single note, you will have to use Velocity X-Fade. Find out more about it in the Optimize Sibelius playback manual you find at the following location:

That is actually the instructions I am following but I don't hear any volume change over the note. I do see the Exp fader moving but I hear no difference ....

Did you also switch on Vel XF? That's the button above the slider.
