  • Naming your different instances of Vienna Server???

Ok, so I figured out how to create more instances of VE Server windows  on the my PC slave by just adding channels on my G5 mac and inserting another VE Plug-in.

HOWEVER... and there is always an HOWEVER in life.

I can't seem to figure out how to name these new instances when they pop up on the slave???  I'm not talking about NAMING the save, I'm talking about NAMING the various instances of VE windows that are created on the slave.  You know, like one for strings and one for percussion and one for woodwinds, that sort of thing.

Right now I just have a bunch of windows that are named exactly the same thing and it's very confusing when looking at them and trying to figure out which is which.

Thanks, and oh by the way I feel compelled to ask... WHEN WILL VE PRO COME TO PLANET EARTH????[:D]

  • The way I do it is by renaming the "Master Bus" track on each VE3 window to what I want it called.  At least that way I immediately see which once I have selected.  Maybe they will come up with a better way later but for now that works for me.

  • I think I understand what you're trying to say arapahoe. That type of confusion that you're mentioning happens when having more than one instance of VE3, and you would be trying to select the VE instance and assign the MIDI channel. Usually I use four instances of VE3, one for each section, and when I try to assign a midi channel, there will be 4 "vienna ensemble" in the MIDI out drop down menu. Therefore I don't think it is possible to rename, since the name is inherited from the VST plugin's name itself.
