  • Vienna Imperial and MIDI Volume

I would like to be able to use MIDI Volume messages (controller 7) to set the volume level for Vienna Imperial (as I do for all my Vienna Instruments inside Ensemble), but I don't see anyway to do this (for instance with a MIDI Learn function).  Any thoughts?

  • A MIDI Volume message controller for a piano sample library?  You mean like the expression fader?  I don't own Vienna Imperial but I don't think you can do that.  If you program MIDI notes for a piano instead of playing them then why not just program the velocities as well?

  • Hi Carter

I'm sure someone with Imperial will jump in to help but have you tried control- clicking the volume slider in the GUI then moving your preferred controller?

Really liked your score for Rob Roy BTW. [;)]

  • Hi everybody,

sorry for the late reply here.

With Vienna Ensemble PRO, the automation of pan and volume for each channel will be available - soon [:)]

And we´ll do our best to integrate CC7 as the colume controler in the next software update of Vienna Imperial.

I don´t know which sequencer you are using, Carter, but for now, the best way to automate the Vienna Imperial Volume in Logic is to use it as a "normal" plug-in and automate the channel fader of the sequencer mixer.

If you are working with Cubase or Sonar, VST automation is also a way to go, with Vienna Imperial used as a separate plug-in in your sequencer.

    Hope that helps.

    Best,

    Paul
