  • Adding a second VSL collection in Sibelius 6 playback device

I have followed your tutorial for making a score using Vienna Standard Edition Plus xml file and it works.

I then have copied the Solo string I & II xml file but it didn't work.

The playback device only finds Solo string I & II  in the configuration, and the playback device only finds VSL Ensemble Special Edition Plus in the Sound set

Windows Vista 64 and Sibelius 6.01   ( I only have VSL Solo strings I and not the II collection)

  • Hello Sergino!

To which directory did you copy the sound set?
On Windows Vista and with Sibelius 6 it should be the following directory:
    Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Sounds

After that you have to restart Sibelius.

    I hope that helps.

    Best,
    Andi

  • It looks like the xml files must be in

    Users\Sergino\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Playback Configurations

    and Users\Sergino\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Sounds as well

So I can see  SE+, Solo strings and Appassionata Strings  in Configuration

but the Solo strings still don't appear in the soundset MENU

  • No, the Playback Configurations Folder is for Playback Configurations. Please remove the sound sets from there. A Playback configuration is a file, where settings of one or more loaded plugins can be saved. A sound set can't be loaded as a playback configuration (although both kinds of files do have the ending .xml)
You can create your own Playback Configuration, where you can activate one or more Vienna Ensemble instances and then select the sound set for each instance.
