  • Adding additional Articulations to the Sibelius Soundsets

I am interested in adding additional articulations to some of the sounds sets. For example, if I want to add tasto, sff, "harsh" or activate repitition samples with, say, the orchestral strings presets. I see that the horizontal span is controlled by CC1 messages. How is this activated within the Sibelius notation (Dictionary) that I could add on my own to it? The level 2 presets have much of what I need, but I would like to know how to add a few articulations to them.

    Thanks

  • Hello Rob!

Creating a sound set for our bigger collections (like Orchestral Strings) is quite a complex task and modifying them is also not as easy, as you might hope.

    You could do the following:
Replace one articulation you don't need with an articulation that you want to use. For example if you don't need sforzato with vibrato, you could replace it with sff. To trigger it use the articulation signs "sf" and "vibrato" in Sibelius. Make sure that in the dictionary you have entered the Sound ID change "+sforzato" at the keyword "sf". In your case you could also enter a new keyword "sff" and add the Sound ID change "+sforzato.vibrato".

By the way: Sul tasto articulations are already included in the Solo Strings Sound Set and Level 2 presets. For the other collections we did not record this articulation.

    Best wishes,
    Andi
