     Hi.

    I've read the MIR thread, but I'm a bit dissapointed about the lack of threads or comments about MIR. I'm still hoping for a new video tuturial to go a bit more in depth with the moving instrumenst around. But until then I would love to hear some more impressions. Unfortunately I can't run MIR myself on my shitty PCs.

    So how well does it work? Any user demos? Is it the quantum leap over say AltiVerb?

    Hi Christian

    I was a MIR-Beta tester. So why do I not publish some demos? Maybe I write here an answer for all other beta testers and all fresh MIR-owners:

    MIR used a lot of time, a lot of development costs and a lot of hard work - and that was a real sweat, I'm sure!

    But now we can get never heard and natural mixes and music results...

    Unfortunately you also can adjust the parameters that way that you get dull, muddy and bad results as we can have them with every other reverb - even if it is a good one. We already know this matter from Altiverb for example.

    Now my Beta-Tester problem is not to publish demos which will throw an unfavourable light on MIR. Of course I got some really nice results but are they the very best? Maybe I selected not the best  microphone-combination for the Mozart Hall? Perhaps I adjusted the dry/wet balance not in the very best ratio?

    So I think it is up to VSL to publish the first demos for this splendid hightech-tool, their demos which will show the best possible sides of MIR.

    In other words: The first demos of this tool should be played by a master or by the creator itself [li][li][li] [;)]

    I know, that VSL is working on such demos...

    Hi Christian

    The using of MIR is easy:

    1. Choose a Music Hall (Mozart-, Schubert-, New-, ...Hall)

    2. Select the listening seat of the virtual listener (conductor, 8. row, ...)

    3. Select an instrument you want to play (a violin for example)

    On the one hand it appears a Vienna Instrument which can be equiped with articulation as you already know it.

    On the other hand it appears a MIR-Control-Icon (your violin as well) on the stage of your selected hall.

    4. Check the functions of this Control-Icon You are able to adjust several reverb parameters for the violin now.

    5. Shift this Icon (still the Violin) on your desired place on the stage.

    6. Load now all your needed Instruments into MIR and shift them around on the stage as you wish to do it - and in the same way you've done it with the violin.

    That's it.

    Each of the instruments got a certain midi channel as we know it from VE

    Let then play the VIs within MIR with your DAW over either Virtual Midi- or Hardware Midi-Interfaces  (32 different instruments need 2 midi ports (2x16 Channels).

    Taaaaa tatata Taaaaaa      What a lovely sound...

     I also was a beta tester and  I perfectly agree with Beat Kaufmann.

    The thing that I can add is:

    the first time with MIR was my best experience of sound from a computer and I am making computer music since 1978

    Beat - I don't mean how it's used - I think I have a good idea about that. I'm more curious if it was the leap in room placement of virtual instruments, as it was expected to be. I'm curious that so few comments have been made on it.

    I really look forward to more videos.
