  • Dynamics in Sibelius

Greetings All, I have been using the velocity crossfade for hairpins in Sibelius, however the overall dynamic range is drastically reduced this way. For example, if I want the flute to decrescendo to niente(nothing) it will not do this with velocity crossfade. If I go back to using the expression fader the volume decrescendo does not sound as realistic. Any ideas from anyone on how to get a better effect in this type of passage. Thank you. -Peter

  • Hello Peter!

In this case, you could additionally add Controller 7 (MIDI Volume) data to your decrescendo. You can do that with the Sibelius Plugin Crescendo/Decrescendo Playback. Don't forget to set back this controller after the decrescendo with the Technique Text command "~C7,xx".

(xx = value for controller 7)

    Best,

    Andi
